The Etude 3 is a small lightweight thumb rest for clarinet and oboe, designed to enhance the freedom of your playing. The thumb rest allows faster and easier movement of the ring and little fingers, as well as preventing fatigue of the thumb and hand. It is especially useful for players experiencing discomfort of their thumb joint.
The Etude moves the pressure point of the thumb rest from the first phalanx of the thumb to the space between the two joints. The lever momentum is much smaller at this point, so the thumb can support the weight of the instrument more easily. This results in much of the energy, previously used to support the clarinet's weight, becoming available for greater movement and flexibility in the handling of the instrument.
- Metal hook covered with soft rubber and a casing with improved ergonomics
- The hook is adjustable in height
- Better materials and a redesign of dove tail slide and mounting slide
- The thumb is held higher and is either straight or slightly bent
- The result is a "natural and individual" posture
