The HR* CUSTOM DARK Alto sax mouthpieces are a premium line of hard rubber saxophone mouthpieces, where the goal is to make the most beautiful-sounding and playing piece possible. In order to achieve this goal, Jody Jazz started with the finest material used in hard rubber mouthpieces today, the proprietary Chedeville® Rubber. CHR (Chedeville Rubber) is a softer and more pure formula than regular hard rubber and imparts both a richer and more warm sound.
Next, a design was created that includes rounded sidewalls, adding a complexity that Jody calls ”moonglow” on top of the core sound. A large round chamber creates a warm 'honey-like' timbre, with the inspired addition of a thick and heavy gold-plated brass band on the shank boosting the level of harmonics in the sound.
